I just love vintage
girlie/pin-up magazines from the 1950's & 60's! The covers of the magazines
usually had an element of color to them, either in the background or in
the lingerie worn that made them quite eye catching. Then you have the
names of the tempting names of the magazines, such as "Black Garter", "Silk
Stockings", "Hip & Toe", "Nifty Nylons" and "Garter Parade", just to
name a few.
As someone who
appreciates lingerie from the 1950's and 60's, I think the waist cinchers,
merry widows, seamed stockings, sheer nighties, lacy bras and garter belts
that were worn in the magazines, were the epitome of glamour.
Once you open up the
magazine you'll usually come across a bit more racier photos but still
tame when compared to what you see nowadays. The tease was still there
with the focus usually being on the stockings, garters, panties, and other
types of lingerie. The poses were more cheesecake than pornographic and
the models were curvy and natural. All these things make vintage girlie
magazines so appealing to flip through. They capture the essence of a very
sexy era!

Lingerie & Legs
is a site devoted to all things lingerie, but with a focus on vintage lingerie
and stockings. Preferably non-stretch stockings, such as Full Fashioned
or RHT stockings. My original idea with this site was to make it similar
to a blog, in that I am going to try to update it on a (almost!) daily
basis with all sorts of fun things related to lingerie. I had also wanted
to feature a different model/site every day as well that also focused on
vintage lingerie & stockings. But, when I made up a list of all the
sites that fit into that category, I came up with a pretty short list!
So instead I've decided to stick with writing about lingerie and every
now and then I will feature different sites that I think you might find
of interest.
I'm not sure how you
came across this site, dear web surfer, but if you love stockings and vintage

Nobody on the 'net does
slip glamour photography like Kimberly does at GlamourGurlz.com! Have a
glimpse at her gallery
page and you'll see what I mean! The best words to describe her photos
are classy, teasing, and sexy. You can tell that the models enjoy posing
for the camera by the expressions on their faces. Kimberly manages to
capture the beauty of vintage slips in her photos, but you'll also find
other types of vintage lingerie on her site at times. She has an eye for
dressing the model just right with stockings, heels, satin gloves and other
fun glamour accessories. If you love seeing
women in vintage slips, you are probably already familiar with Glamour
Gurlz. In addition to running her slip site, Kimberly also sells vintage
lingerie on ebay: you can check out some of her auctions
here. In this day and age "sex appeal" seems to equate to how much
skin you can show, it's nice to come across a site that shows how sexy
a woman can be dressed----in lingerie! ;)
Don't
let the name fool you, Trashy
lingerie is a lingerie store like no other! Don't worry if you can't
make it to their shop in Los Angeles, just surf over to their website:
www.trashy.com to find their original lingerie & costumes.
Which I should point out are very popular with both celebrities and Playboy
Playmates. Unlike some lingerie brands that are sold by different retailers,
Trashy brand lingerie is only sold at Trashy and is made exclusively by
their own seamstresses!
I can speak from experience, their stuff is TOP notch. Yes, it's a bit
pricey, but it's worth every penny! They have a huge selection
of corsets and they give you curves like you never knew you had!
;) There are always new designs being added to the website and with most
designs, you can even choose which colors you'd like your lingerie to be
made in! Just trust me on this, if you've never been to their site before,
you need to check it out!
If you decide that some of their stuff might be a little out of your price
range, well, they do offer a "Bargains" section of their website devoted
to cheaper priced lingerie. (I should mention that the lingerie in that
section is not made by Trashy.)

and Legs features: Very Crissy
Crissy is a mature English
woman who calls herself a 'natural exhibitionist' and says she loves posing
in front of the camera. On
her site you'll see her in stockings & garters, pantyhose, high heels,
bras, lingerie, dresses and more. (And for those of you that prefer more
'naughty' stuff, Crissy has that too.) She does indoor and outdoor photo

I love vintage lingerie
and my favorite place to shop for it is ebay. I'm always surprised at the
things I've found on there before. These are some recent auctions that
I've come across.

A few years ago I started
collecting vintage stockings, but only those that are rare or unusual in
some way. Here are a few unique styles I found on ebay:
A pretty black floral
flocking design decorates the side of the leg of this vintage pair. I have
seen vintage designs like this before, usually with the flocking on the
side of the leg or at the back of the heel.
These
vintage stockings have a thin black outline around the heel and foot reinforcement.
This
pair is quite unusual as only part of the reinforcement is black and there
is a little diamond pattern in the black part as well.
Okay,
these are just gorgeous!! These have got to be the prettiest pair of tap
pants I've ever seen and then even have the original tags on them! I have
a feeling the bidding is going to go high on these....
Oo la la!! Very sleek
and sexy this vintage girdle is! This is what comes to mind when I think
of 1950's undergarments. Of course it would need stockings attached to
those 6 garters to be complete!
This is just adorable!

Vintage lingerie catalogs
are fun to look through and see the various styles that were once available.
My favorite eras for lingerie would be the 1950's and the 1980's. When
I think of 1950's lingerie, I think of undergarments that were made to
shape the body, such as bullet bras, girdles, waist cinchers and long line
bras/corselettes. This
site has some catalog pages from a 1959 Frederick's of Hollywood catalog.
While these items aren't as popular in 2007 as they were in 1957, there
are still companies that produce similar products. Looking for bullet bras?
BulletBras.net
makes nothing BUT the cone shaped bras. Cameo
Intimates sells a few as does Secrets
In Lace. GirdleBound.com
not only sells all different styles of girdles (they even custom dye girdles
as well!) but they also have an awesome
girdle gallery. (Also Girdles.net
is worth a mention as they have an excellent selection & offer colored
girdles too!)
The lingerie in the
1980's had a more romantic feel to it with lots of lace. Flipping through
some of my 1980's lingerie catalogs I see teddies, bustiers, long gowns,
camisoles & french knickers, bodysuits (leotards) and body stockings.

1980's.
Now surf on over to the

Secret web site and see how times have changed. They have unsexy flannel
pajama's on their main page! (At least they did the day I wrote this.)

higher the better! She has quite a collection of close toe, ankle strap,

101: Part 1
Good morning class!

things a woman can wear: Stockings! But not all stockings are
created equal, and here's where your lingerie education comes in.There
are two major categories of stockings: stretch and non-stretch stockings.
Stretch stockings may or may not require a garter belt to hold them up,
where as non-stretch
stockings must be worn with garters-or they'll end up around your ankles!
